This alternative is suitable for pure fluids or fluids with insignificant solid particals. Due to the preceding hydrodynamic seal, the double mechanical seal is relieved of the pump delivery pressure and as result a lower sealing pressure is required. Furthermore, the centrifugal effect of the back vanes during the operation expel solids from the mechanical seal.

DOUBLE MECHANICAL SEAL (PUMP SIDE WITH ROTATING MATING RING)

The special design of this seal permits applications also for fluids with high solid percentages and media with a sticking or crystallization tendency. The mechanical seal is relieved from the pump delivery pressure by the back vanes which, during the operation expel solids from the mechanical seal.
